Are you looking for a safe, effective, and holistic way to uplift your mood and ease stress and anxiety in your life? Do you care about improving cellular health and brain function to help you think more clearly, feel more alert and alive? Would you like to know that the air you’re breathing is purified, actively energised and hydrated?
If you said yes to any of these, you need to start diffusing essential oils daily!
Diffusing essential oils is an easy, cost effective and health conscious solution to improving your health and wellbeing. It’s an added bonus that it also makes your house smell amazing to just breathe it all in.. This is all you need to do absorb all the extra health benefits.
An ultrasonic diffuser uses ultrasonic vibrations to convert essential oil mixed with water into a fine water vapour. Diffusion distributes tiny essential oil molecules into the air and as you inhale, the nerves in your nasal passage send signals directly to your brain.
It is really important that you treat the oils you are using with respect so that you and your family can get the maximum health benefit. Stay away from candles and devices that heat your oils and only use cold air diffusion to get the most out of your oils.
Heating essential oils damages the chemical structure of the oil and therefore can rob them of their healing properties. You will still smell the aroma but loose the full potency of the oil. What a waste! You’ll want to avoid this if you are buying high quality, potent healing oils.
The great news is, essential oils are extremely concentrated so a little goes a long way, and this makes them cost effective.
Here are 5 reasons why you need to diffuse essential oils every day...
1. Purify and humidify the air
When diffused into the air, essential oils can help with:
- Destroying mould and microorganisms in the air
- Filling the air with a fresh, aromatic scent
- Hydrates the air without condensation
- Increasing ozone and negative ions in the air, which helps inhibit bacterial growth
With winter coming, the ongoing use of heaters can cause our skin and nasal passages to become dry which can increase our risk of getting sick. Use an ultrasonic diffuser to bring fresh oxygenated hydration to your home or work environment.
2. Support Your Immune System
Diffusing essential oils is a great way to support your immune system. Essential oils such as Clove, Lemon or Tea Tree are all good choices. One of my favourites is doTerra’s On Guard blend. This is a staple in my home and I never travel without it.
Reducing airborne bacteria to help your immune system
A study published on PubMed website demonstrates that diffusion of essential oils can purify and cleanse the air, providing added protection when seasonal threats are high.
Diffusing essential oils into the air has been scientifically proven to reduce airborne bacteria like MRSA and Staph and can be highly effective in controlling airborne pathogens and bacteria.
You can diffuse your essential oils using around 5 - 8 drops in a regular diffuser with some water. It’s as simple as that!
- Diffuse when you’re feeling like your immune system is weak and you keep getting a sore throat.
- Diffuse when someone in the house, family or work space is sick and you don’t want to catch it.
- Diffuse especially in winter when seasonal threats are high and you want to stay healthy.
One of my favourite blends for winter months:
- 2 drop rosemary essential oil
- 2 drop clove essential oil
- 1 drop eucalyptus essential oil
- 1 drop cinnamon bark essential oil
- 2 drop wild orange essential oil
3. Reduce Stress and manage your emotions
Inhalation of essential oils, or the aroma of the oil, can be a powerful way to affect memory, hormones and emotions through the olfactory system.
The ‘olfactory system’ is where we make sense of the world using our sense of smell.
The olfactory bulb is part of the brain’s limbic system which is sometimes called the “emotional brain” as its job is to govern memory and feelings.
So what we are saying here is that a smell can bring on a flood of memories, influence people's moods and even affect how they behave.
Have you ever walked past someone who was wearing an aftershave or perfume that someone you know or loved used to wear?
You know how that smell can trigger memories and sometimes feelings can come flooding back?
The point is, you can see here that smell and emotions are clearly connected, so let’s make the most of that good old olfactory bulb and hit it with some of nature’s powerful healing goodness!

4. Improve the quality of your sleep
A systematic review of research into inhaled essential oils’ effect on sleep, published in 2014 in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, reported the greatest number of findings for lavender. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24720812
One of the most notable qualities of Lavender essential oil is to enhance the quality of sleep.
Sleep is an issue that comes up for many of my clients and friends. It seems that between stress, hormones and maybe a partner snoring or the challenges that come with parenting, there are of people struggling to get a good night’s sleep!
The good news is, there are many essential oils that are brilliant tools for both helping you to fall asleep as well as enhancing the quality of your sleep. Wouldn't you love to wake feeling energised and fully rested?
The trick is finding exactly which essential oil your body likes best. In general, certain oils are best for most people when it comes to sleep but as we are all different, you do need to try for yourself.
Sometimes finding the best oil for you just takes a little bit of trial and error, but I promise you it’s worth it because when you find your magic combo you’ll sleep like a baby and never look back!

doTERRA Lavender Peace
If you prefer a blend already made that is designed for sleep with the highest grade healing oils then the doTERRA Lavender Peace is my recommendation.
It works immediately and is a powerful tool to have in your kit especially if you or kids struggle to get to sleep.
Here's a word from one of my clients...
"Lavender Peace has probably been the one oil that I use daily in diffuser for my daughter as she gets ready for bed. She is 5 now but been using since she was 2.5yrs. It calms her and has become part of her bedtime routine.I find it helps put her to sleep faster than if she doesn't have it on. She loves it and finds it comforting, especially when we are travelling or away from home. I use it on her feet on the plane to calm her. It's just been quite distinctive the effect it has on her mood and energy. So much, that I tell all my mum friends to get it when they have trouble with their child sleeping as it puts my daughter to sleep immediately. That's what every parent wants really! I usually fall asleep too or feel really calm when I walk in her room. It's my favourite oil for whole family at night time."

5. Breathe Easy
While colds and chest infections are more common in the Winter months, we suffer environmental allergies like hay fever and sinus congestion in Spring and Summer. The result in either case is often a hacking cough, congestion, sneezing, a sore throat, and a general feeling of fatigue. The great news is that we can diffuse essential oils to help manage symptoms and provide some relief.Essential oils are great for reducing inflammation and congestion in clogged airways to help you breathe more easily. I’ve had many clients over the years tell me how grateful they are for the support of a few oils to ease hayfever symptoms of persistent coughing.Having a diffuser by your bed at night can make all the difference.Choose a diffuser that will operate for at least 8 hours so it can function the whole night through.I promise you, this saved me many times as a mother of a young son with asthma. Reuben used to cough all night until he was sick until I discovered these options. If you prefer to have a blend that has been intelligently blended by experts in their field.
doTERRA Easy Air is awesome!! It’s a potent healing blend that opens the airways and helps ease symptoms of coughs and congestion.
Don't just take my word for it. Here's a word from a client
The oil blend my family uses the most is Easy Air. My step-son has the roll-on which he uses at night to help him sleep and my mother uses the blended oil on her feet before she goes to bed as it helps with her breathing. My mother had been struggling with a dry cough and asthma for quite a while and her ventolin puffers offered little support. After one night's sleep with a couple of drops of Easy Air on her feet she phoned me to say she's had one of the best night's sleep in a long time... free from wheezing and that painful dry cough. She continues to use it today in her diffuser for the home and on the soles of her feet before bed.
